I am sure most people who are reading this are seasoned/veteran web users and know their ways around the internet like the back of their hands. However, no matter your expertise in wriggling through the vicissitudes of the net, there are bound to be websites that are forbidden to you, either by the government or other reasons. Without the need for high-flying hacking abilities or illegal means, proxy sites enable anyone to access a blocked site easily, potentially unlocking a whole new side of the internet to you!

Government and corporations are among the few entities that are inclined to impose blocks and restrictions to certain websites. They may claim that it is in the name of national interest or company policies. Popular networking sites such as myspace or Facebook might be blocked by employers who think that such sites may eat into their employee’s working hours. In such situations, Myspace proxy sites may be summoned to circumvent the block. When the big questions arises - how to unblock websites?

The answer is typically right in front of you! One of the less complicated and straightforward ways would be to use Proxy servers (sometimes called web site anonymizers because they make the computer user anonymous). These servers circumvent filters on the computer or even the firewall due to the way these sites operate. Proxy servers may be in the form of computers outside the blocked network such as your company or country) and have their own IP address which can be controlled by your computer. Through the wonders of modern technology, regular users can now bypass content filters without much technical knowledge!

Of course, there are other means such as using Google to act as a proxy. Google may seem like just a simple search engine – but it isn’t. Using Google Cache, one can view forbidden websites (albeit dated) while bypassing any blocks imposed by other parties (This is assuming Google itself is not blocked from the network). More technical people may even be able to resort to means such as Transparent Socks, proxy chains, or multiple proxies to get out of a restricted network. Alas, how many of us are actual tech geeks who know the ins and outs of such networking intricacies? This is exactly why we have proxy websites as our fallback.

Well, what are you waiting for? There are literally thousands of informative and useful sites you are missing out on due to imposing policies and blocks. Start exploring the world of proxies today and discover the vast amount of knowledge that awaits you!
