Sydney Australia Sydney Travel Guide about Sydney

In the economic downturn, people are holding back spending on various fronts. Be it real estate or in supermarkets, all aspects of living have been affected by the recent events. However, amidst the gloom and negativity surrounding this crisis, there are still good deals to be found. In the tourism sector, a holiday to Sydney, Australia stands as one of the best choices one can make now! Being the most populous city in Australia, Sydney has its own unique charms to attract tourists from the world over, be it bustling activities or peaceful country outings. With great accomodation and hotels, coupled with numerous tourist attractions, a trip to Sydney will be both enjoyable and economical.

For starters, one can visit the Centennial Park. Naturalists will definitely be at home in this place, whose construction was dedicated by Sir Henry Parkes as a public open space in 1888 and was the venue for the inauguration of Federation in 1901. Covering more than 360 hectares, the Parklands is one of the worlds finest and most used urban open spaces. It is situated less than five kilometres from Sydney’s central business district and just a few minutes from the citys popular eastern beaches. Centennial Parklands comprises three parks: Moore Park, Queens Park and Centennial Park.

Meanwhile, art and history lovers might want to head down to Museum of Contemporary Art. The MCA was established to fulfil the museum aspect of the vision of Australian expatriate artist John Power who bequeathed his personal fortune to the University of Sydney to inform and educate Australians in the contemporary visual arts. Lauded as one of the most significant cultural exhibition venues aroung the region, visitors will be enlightened by the host of art displays inside.

One cannot travel to Sydney and not drop by its most famous landmark, the Sydney Opera House. Contrary to the implication of the name, it houses a multi-venue performing arts centre, rather than a single Opera theatre. As well as hosting many touring productions in a variety of performance genres, the Sydney Opera House is a major presenting venue for Opera Australia, The Australian Ballet, the Sydney Theatre Company and the Sydney Symphony. It is administered by the Sydney Opera House Trust, under the New South Wales Ministry of the Arts. These are just one of the many places one can visit in Sydney. With a number of shopping spots and natural attractions, it is no doubt an all-round city that will meet the needs of most tourists. And with Australia aggressively marketing its country as a tourist spot, one is sure to find a good deal for a holiday there!
