Gemstones have been used more commonly as jewelries since the beginning of the human civilization because of the sparkling characteristics that most gemstones possessed. Because of this, gemstones can be excellent gifts for others especially to females.

More common gemstones used as jewelries are the diamonds, but diamonds are expensive and not everyone afford to buy jewelries made of diamonds. Thus, jewelries producers are slowly moving towards using mystic topaz gemstones to produce jewelries like engagement ring because topaz is cheap and wholesale mystic topaz are not mined, but were produced using colorless topaz.

Next, blue topaz has been used widely to produce nice jewelries in order to make jewelries more affordable. Blue topaz is actually the Texas state gemstone. Naturally occurring Blue Topaz is quite rare but it can be produced. Typically, colorless, gray or pale yellow and blue material is heat treated and irradiated in order to produce a more desired darker blue.

Then, we have another gemstone used to produce affordable jewelries. The violet colored amethyst is another semi precious stone which is a lot cheaper than diamonds. Up to the discoveries of bulk amethyst in Brazil in the 19th century, amethyst was considered a precious stone and cost a lot as well, going back to ancient Greece. That was then not much of the choice of gemstones that can be used to produce more affordable jewelries.

You see, jewelries are expensive and luxurious item, but with more innovation of jewelries using other gemstones, jewelries are now made affordable.
